Misfit Harp
A modular electromechanical string instrument developed for sustained sound, glissandi, multichannel output and cross-feedback between strings.

From sound mass to machine.
The project grew from a musical problem: how can one performer improvise with dense, sustained layers of strings while retaining precise control over pitch movement and spatial output? The answer gradually shifted from composition software toward the design of a new instrument.
The Misfit Harp expanded an earlier two-string prototype into a modular system. Individual pickups, resonator coils, tuning mechanisms and string divisions can be repositioned, turning the instrument itself into a site of ongoing experimentation.

In Bloom — Control and Chaos
Korzo, The Hague · 1 November 2025. The performance places the instrument at the centre of a dark stage, exposing the physical act of routing and tuning the system.

Spaceship Ensemble
The Misfit Harp also functions in ensemble settings, extending the project beyond the solo instrument/performance format.
